What Is This Portal Thing Anyway?

Tip of the Week August 21, 2023

There’s been a lot of talk recently about the VicNet volunteer portal, but what is it and what does it do? And why take the time to setup something new? Well, VicNet isn’t just something extra for when you’ve got time to spare—it’s a great time-saver for both you and your volunteers.

It gives you a centralized place to post news, information, and documents your volunteers need. It lets volunteers manage their own schedules, increasing their ownership, reducing no-shows and unfilled shifts, and improving retention. Volunteers can also update their own profile information, report past service, and print out their service history, saving you time. And it includes a mobile app so volunteers can use it on the go.

If you’ve got a few minutes, check out the VicNet overview, which provides a good summary. If you have 15 minutes, see the Volunteer Guide for VicNet, which shows the portal from the volunteer perspective. If you’ve got an hour, you can watch our recent webinar on VicNet, which covers getting started and customizing it to meet your need.
