Volgistics Quarterly Updates, Fall 2023

As the last quarter of 2023 approaches, there can be a lot to think about: holidays, end of year reports, preparation for next year’s events, and more. Our goal at Volgistics is to make managing your volunteer data more efficient, but it’s easy to get lost in all the changes and updates we make to improve the software. So, here’s a quick update on our latest projects:

  • The biggest update for Volgistics in the last quarter was the introduction of the new VicNet volunteer portal and the retirement of the legacy volunteer portal. This update brought many new features to VicNet, including the new mobile app in Google Play and the Apple App Store.
  • You can now link documents in application forms for applicants to download, in addition to letting applicants attach documents to their application. For example, link a waiver for applicants to complete and attach.
  • Assignment records now include ‘next’ and ‘previous’ buttons to help you navigate between them easily to compare their schedules, profiles, rules settings, and more.
  • Require Comment fields on application forms. These are the open-ended text fields for questions that require a text-based response.
  • Put multiple contact fields into the same row in application forms and VicNet.

Looking forward:

  • We have a maintenance window this coming Friday night through Saturday morning that will be a little longer than normal. We’re making some large updates to our databases to keep them secure as technology advances. The plan is to start on Friday, October 6 at 9pm ET and be done by 5am ET on Saturday.
  • Our development team picked up a new project that will allow System Operators to schedule email, Vic Mail, and text messages to be sent automatically at a later time.
  • For VicTouch users, we’re looking into a way to filter the Who’s Here page to show the volunteers who are scheduled but haven’t signed in yet.
  • After many requests, we also began a project to optionally send immediate schedule confirmation messages to volunteers when they are scheduled.
