Search Based on Years of Service

This help topic explains how to define a Set rule based on the 'years of service' statistic recorded on the volunteer record's Core tab. By default, this data reflects the period of time a volunteer has been 'Active,' excluding any periods during which a volunteer had any Status other than 'Active.' However, the definition of Years of Service Settings can be customized by Volgistics system operators to also include time when volunteers had Status(es) other than 'Active.'

You create Set rules on the Set Definition page:

  1. Choose Sets from the menu
  2. Click the Create a new set button.
  3. Select Their years of service from the Include volunteers in this set based on drop down list.
  4. Click Continue.

This Set rule can capture volunteers whose years of service are at least a specified number of years and/or months; no more than a specified number of years and/or months, or within a range of specified years and/or months.

Their years of service are at least

The following image demonstrates how to use the Their years of service Set rule to capture volunteers whose years of service are at least 5 years and 6 months.

Their years of service are no more than

To capture all volunteers with years of service less than or equal to a certain amount of years and/or months, use the second option. For example, define a Their years of service Set rule to pick up volunteers with 2 or fewer years of service like this:

Their years of service are between

Finally, use this type of Set rule to find volunteers with a number of years of service that falls within a range of years and/or months. The image below illustrates a Set rule that would include volunteers with a years of service value from 5 years, 1 month through 9 years, 11 months. In this case, volunteers with 5 years, 0 months and 10 years, 0 months would not be included in the Set.
