Custom Address Labels Report

If you find that label text is not properly aligned when printing a labels report, the first step is to turn off page scaling in Acrobat Reader. If alignment issues remain unresolved after following this procedure, you can create a custom label report that gives you full control over margins and spacing. You can use such a report to "nudge" the labels up, down, left or right as required.

To Setup a Custom Label Report

  1. Select Reports from the menu.
  2. Expand Address labels and then click Create a new address labels report.
  3. On the Options page, under Create address labels for choose Volunteers and any other options you prefer.
  4. On the Fields page select the desired name format for your labels.
  5. On the Page Design tab change the Avery label number selection to Unknown or different brand (at the top of the list of label numbers). This expands the Page Design tab to give you full control over the label placement on the page.
  6. On the Save page, enter a name for your custom label sheet (e.g. My Labels), and then click the Save and Run button to run the report.

You now have a custom label report you can adjust as necessary to suit your printer and your labels.

Try printing your labels again using this new report. If the alignment is still not what you need, you can tweak the alignment of your labels by modifying the report to move the label left, right, up or down.

To Make an Adjustment to Your Label Alignment

  1. Select Reports from the menu.
  2. Expand Address labels and then click on the name of the report you created above (e.g. My Labels).
  3. Select the Page Design tab. The Page Design tab is where you can adjust the label alignment. Make any adjustment you would like:

    • Use the Side margin field to increase or decrease the space from the left side of the label sheet to the left side of the first label column.
    • Use the Top margin field to increase or decrease the space from the top of your label sheet to the top of the first label row.
    • Use the Margin between label columns field to increase or decrease the vertical space from the right side of the first label column to the left side of the second label column. If your labels do not have space between them, this setting would be 0.00.
    • Use the Margin between label rows field to increase or decrease the horizontal space from the bottom on the first label row to the top of the second label row. If there is no space between your label rows, this setting would be 0.00.
    • Use the Bottom margin field to increase or decrease the space from the bottom of the last label row to the bottom of the label sheet.
  4. Once you're finished making your adjustment, click the Save tab and save your report.

Once you have alignment that works in your environment the report will be saved and you can use it whenever you need to print labels.
