Cannot Organize Service Reports by Flag¶
When creating reports that include service information, it is not possible to sort the data by volunteer Flag. Since the Flag field is designed for situations where volunteers can be classified into more than one category at a time, there would be no way to deal with hours contributed by volunteers with more than one Flag. For example, if a volunteer has the Flags Student and Researcher and a system operator prepares a service report for the year that includes this volunteer's hours, would the hours be reported in the Student section of the report or the Researcher section? There is no logical way to make this determination; therefore, the system will not organize service details or service summary reports by Flag.
You can, however, run a service details or service summary report that includes service only performed by volunteers who have a particular Flag. This option can be selected on the report's Include tab.
In contrast to Flags, reports can be organized by volunteer Type. In this case, volunteers can only be assigned to one Type, so it is possible to accurately organize a particular volunteer's service under the single Type that is recorded on their Core tab.
