Message Failure Threshold Settings

The email failure threshold and the text message failure threshold are set up options used to control how far back Volgistics looks at a volunteer's message history to determine if their email address and/or text message number are valid or not.

Volgistics determines an email address's validity, or the text message field's validity, by looking at the results of the messages you send. By default, Volgistics looks at the last three messages you've sent. This is the threshold. If all three were delivered without failure, the field's validity is marked with the green icon:

If one or two of the last three messages sent failed, but at least one was successful, Volgistics marks the address with the yellow icon:

If all three of the last messages sent failed, Volgistics marks the email or text field with a red icon:

To change how far back in the message history Volgistics looks to determine the field's validity:

  1. Choose Setup from the menu.
  2. Select Messages.
  3. Select Ground Rules.
  4. Scroll to the Failure Thresholds section at the bottom of the page.
  5. Select the number of sent messages the system should review to determine validity from the dropdown list in the Email or Text Message fields. The Text Message option will not appear unless you've enabled text messaging in your account.
  6. Click the Save button.
