Thank you for your interest in the Docent Council! We have designed this form so that we can learn more about you and offer you a sense of the level of commitment and interest expected of Docents at the Crocker Art Museum. The term “Docent” may be unfamiliar to many. A docent is a teacher, a communicator, a leader and much more. Docents are often the Museum’s most effective “translators” for the public. Their efforts impact over 20% of all Museum visitors yearly. A Docent’s role is to stimulate interest, discovery and active learning. Docents know a lot about the artwork, architecture and history of the Museum, but they don’t know everything. Their most important assets are an enthusiasm for learning and enjoyment of personal interaction.
