Please complete this application form if you are interested in becoming a Rochester Fringe Festival volunteer. PLEASE NOTE that you must include a valid telephone number and email address or your application will be rejected. Once you complete the form, click the submit button at the bottom. We review applications every Monday through September 1 and daily thereafter through the conclusion of the Festival. As part of the review process we will be contacting you at the telephone number you provide to conduct a short interview and will email notice of whether or not your application has been approved subsequent to that interview. if your application is approved, we will also explain the next steps you will need to take to select your specific venues and time slots for volunteering. Please make sure to check your email (including any Spam folder you might have set up) for this important email. Your volunteer tasks will not be assigned until you receive this email and follow the instructions contained within it.
We must have a valid telephone number and email address in order to consider your application complete. You will be contacted by telephone to verify your identity and your willingness to serve and will be provided notice of your acceptance or rejection via email. If we are unable to contact you via telephone and email, your application will be denied without further notice to you.
You are responsible for using the Volunteer Information Center to schedule yourself. We use information you include about your availability solely to help us anticipate and respond to volunteer needs. We will do our best to accommodate your request for a particular job type but you may be asked to serve in a number of differing assignments during the hours you are scheduled. ALL ACTIVE VOLUNTEERS MUST BE ABLE TO STAND DURING THE ENTIRE SHIFT; please choose a PASSIVE position if this is not possible.
IMPORTANT! If you have not assigned yourself on or before the opening date of the Festival, your application and profile will be considered dormant and will be deleted from our system unless you have specifically requested us to retain your application for the next year.
Each assignment that becomes available will be labeled as either Active or Passive. The Active assignments require walking and/or standing for several hours and in some instances the ability to lift and carry equipment, furniture and the like. The Passive assignments require less mobility, physical stamina and in most instances allow volunteers to be seated during some or all of the assignment. Please pay careful attention to whether an assignment is Active or Passive and choose your assignment carefully based upon your own assessment of your physical abilities. After your application is approved, available assignments may be viewed and selected at the Volunteer Information Center.
We provide an online password protected Volunteer Information Center where volunteers must sign in with their password to schedule themselves for openings, check schedules, update information, and receive messages. Important information about parking, arrival times, headliner tickets, training (if any), weather related issues and breaking news for volunteers will be posted on the site's bulletin board before and during the Festival. This information sometimes changes hourly so we encourage you to check the Volunteer Information Center website often to see if new information has been posted.
If your application is approved, you will receive an email containing a link to the Volunteer Information Center and a temporary password that is randomly generated by the system. You'll need to use this password to access the volunteer site for the first time, after which we suggest you change the password to one of your own choosing that you'll be able to easily remember.
You'll also need to use the Volunteer Information Center to schedule yourself for any available Volunteer assignment. If you fail to schedule yourself by opening day of the Festival, your application will be deleted from the system.
Please include an email address where we may reach you with important instructions concerning your volunteer experience, including your volunteer schedule and schedule reminders. We will not share your email address, phone number or other items of personal information submitted in this application with any third party unless you specifically authorize us to do so. We must be able to reach you via email as a condition of your participation in the Rochester Fringe Festival. IF YOU ASK US NOT TO CONTACT YOU OR REFUSE EMAIL REMINDERS, NEWSLETTER OR SCHEDULE REMINDERS, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO VOLUNTEER; YOUR APPLICATION WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE DENIED AND WILL NOT BE RETAINED ON OUR SYSTEM WITHOUT ANY FORM OF FURTHER NOTICE TO YOU.
Please list your current or most recent employer, if applicable. If retired, please enter "Retired", if never employed, please enter "never employed".
In the event of an emergency whom should we notify?
Please let us know of any prior volunteer experience you may have had and what services you performed during such volunteer experience.
Please provide the name and telephone number of at least one reference who will be able to speak to your abilities, attitude and overall qualifications to serve as a volunteer. By providing this information and by submitting this application you agree that we have your consent to contact the person named as your reference and that we may discuss personal information about you with such person for the purposes set forth in this application without further notice to you or liability for the content of such discussion.
For every eight hours of service performed, Volunteers are entitled to one free ticket to a Spiegeltent Show (weekend matinees, Sun night, Mon night, Tues night, Weds night) or Silent Disco (limited availability). We will send out a form in early September to select your ticket award based on your scheduled volunteer hours.
Since your application is incomplete until we actually speak with you on the phone, please let us know the best time to call you so that we can speed along the process.
You may optionally provide the following information. It is used only to help us get a better idea of the demographic make-up of our volunteers.
I understand and agree that submitting this application form does not automatically register me as a Rochester Fringe Festival volunteer, and that there may be certain qualifications I must meet, including the acceptance of established volunteer policies and procedures and the participation in mandatory volunteer training before I may begin volunteering.
By submitting this form, I attest that the information I have provided on the form is true and accurate.
