TheraPets Volunteer Application

First review the requirements for you and your pet then fill out this form in its entirety.

Requirements for your pet

A. Be at least one year of age (6 months for rabbits & Guinea pigs)

B. Lived in your home for at least 6 consecutive months

C. Be on a parasite prevention program (as applicable for the species)

D. Have a physical exam by a licensed veterinarian within 12 months of assessment

E. Current on vaccinations & have an intestinal parasite screening performed within 12 months of assessment (as applicable for the species)

Requirements for ARL TheraPets volunteers:

F. Be at least 18 years of age (minors aged 16-17 can be junior handlers if accompanied by parent/guardian)

G. Attend the ARL TheraPets Training Workshop (without your pet)

H. Have own reliable transportation

More Experience

As a volunteer with the ARL Pet Therapy Program, you will have the opportunity to interact with a wide variety of people; possibly those who are terminally ill, individuals with mental illness, Alzheimer’s disease or dementia, or people displaying intense emotion. What visiting scenarios do you anticipate might cause you OR your pet to be uncomfortable?
