Respecting the privacy of our clients, donors, members, staff, volunteers and of Sharing Connections itself is a basic value of Sharing Connections. Personal and financial information is confidential and should not be disclosed or discussed with anyone without permission or authorization from the Executive Director. Care shall always be taken to ensure that unauthorized individuals do not overhear any discussion of confidential information and that documents containing confidential information are not left in the open or inadvertently shared.
Discrimination and/or harassment is not tolerated. Discriminatory harassment includes verbal or physical conduct that denigrates, ridicules, insults or shows hostility or aversion toward an individual because of that person’s race, national origin, religion, color, sexual orientation or disability and that either creates an offensive, hostile and intimidating environment. As a volunteer with Sharing Connections you agree that you are representing our values and will conduct yourself in a manner demonstrating you agree with an all inclusive atmosphere.
Employees, volunteers and board members of Sharing Connections may be exposed to information which is confidential and/or privileged and proprietary in nature. It is the policy of Sharing Connections that such information must be kept confidential both during and after employment or volunteer service. Staff and volunteers, including board members, are expected to return materials containing privileged or confidential information at the time of separation from employment or expiration of service.
Unauthorized disclosure of confidential or privileged information is a serious violation of this policy and will subject the person(s) who made the unauthorized disclosure to appropriate discipline, including removal/ dismissal.
I agree to treat as confidential all information about clients or former clients and their families that I learn during the performance of my duties as a volunteer, and I understand that it would be a violation of policy to disclose such information to anyone without checking first with my supervisor.
Participation in the volunteer program with Sharing Connections requires an understanding of certain matters concerning its operations. The following matters must be understood and adhered to by each volunteer before joining the SC (Sharing Connections) team.
SC provides services to families in need. They must be treated with dignity and respect.
While every effort is give to provide a safe working environment, the handling and storage of furniture and household goods gives rise to certain safety risks. Volunteers should not wear open toed shoes when working in the warehouse and are not to assist in loading client vehicles. Care must be given to the ergonomically correct and safe movement of items. Sharing Connections does not provide insurance covering injury to volunteers while performing volunteer duties. Each volunteer assumes any and all risk associated with participation in Sharing Connections operations.
Working in the warehouse is subject to the movement of heavier household goods and may be performed in extreme hot or cold conditions. Each volunteer must be aware of their health limitations and restrict their involvement in SC operations accordingly.
Volunteers 16 to 17 years of age must have the signed authorization of a parent or legal guardian to volunteer with SC. Volunteers 12-15 years of age must be accompanied by a parent of legal guardian to volunteer a maximum of three hours per day. Children under the age of 12 cannot volunteer with SC as warehouse projects are not suitable. Group collections or offsite projects hosted by their group is recommended.
If volunteering as a driver for SC purposes, the volunteer is required to maintain their own personal automobile insurance. Proof of insurance will be required at each renewal or upon request. By volunteering, you are giving Sharing Connections permission to order your motor vehicle record
