Volunteer Agreement

All volunteers must read the following

As a Deschutes Public Library (DPL) volunteer, I will remain loyal to the mission, vision and values of DPL. I agree to follow all applicable DPL policies and agree to follow any changes or additions made regarding policies. Failure to follow the policies may result in immediate release from my volunteer commitment to DPL.

Screening Authorization
Deschutes Public Library conducts a criminal history background check on all potential volunteers age 18 and over. Checks are conducted at the time of application and may be conducted annually, seasonally or any time during a volunteer’s services with DPL. I grant Deschutes Public Library permission to check civil and/or criminal records to verify my eligibility to volunteer.

Please note: if you are looking to complete court ordered service hours not all court ordered needs can be met. For more information on meeting community service needs or eligibility for volunteering (criminal offenses or other), contact the Volunteer Services Program Coordinator.

As a volunteer at DPL, I understand that I may work with or be exposed to information which may be confidential in nature. All information, including conversations with and heard by library staff regarding customer accounts, lost materials, overdue fines, borrowing habits and day-to-day library business transactions, is to be kept strictly confidential. I will not discuss this information with anyone who is not directly involved in these areas. I understand that failure to maintain confidentiality may result in immediate release from my volunteer commitment at DPL. The obligation to comply with this policy continues after the volunteer relationship with DPL ends.

By checking the “I agree” checkbox below, you agree to allow a background screening and that you have read and understood all of the information provided in this agreement.
