The Animal Care Internship at the Cook Museum of Natural Science is created to provide hands-on experience with a variety of different animals in our Animal Care department. You will have the choice to intern in either our Aquatics area with freshwater and saltwater fish, turtles, and other aquatic invertebrates or our Ectotherms area with reptiles and insects. Throughout the program, you will be paired with one of our Animal Care professionals as a mentor. You will have the chance to learn husbandry topics including, but not limited to: animal nutrition, health, enrichment, and maintenance of habitats. You will also have the opportunity to perform your own animal care project to help develop your animal husbandry skills and will participate in informal education in teaching visitors about the animals. This opportunity to learn alongside the Cook Museum’s Animal Care team provides valuable experience towards future careers in the animal care field.
