CCFES Volunteer Policies

As a volunteer of CCEFS you are expected to comply with the following policies:


FOOD SHELF

No food is to be removed from CCEFS for personal use unless processed through an appointment with an intake worker, as part of our client agreement, and shopped for during an appointment provided by an intake worker. This policy is an agreement CCEFS signs with Second Harvest Heartland and The Food Group. CCEFS will no longer be eligible to receive food from Second Harvest Heartland and The Food Group if these policies are not strictly followed by all volunteers.


BIRTHDAY BAGS AND HOLIDAY TOYS

These items are not to be removed from CCEFS for personal use unless processed through an appointment with an intake worker as part of our client agreement.


CIVIL RIGHTS TRAINING

*Goal of Civil Rights: That everyone is treated with fairness and equality while receiving food at the food shelf.

*Legal Prohibitions: Discrimination is prohibited on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, disability, sex, gender identity, religion, reprisal, and where applicable, political beliefs, marital status, familial or parental status, sexual orientation, or protected genetic information or where all or part of an individual’s income is derived from any public assistance program.

*Types of Discrimination: Intentionally treating someone differently because of their differences; making a rule that affects a protected class group negatively; and retaliation against complainant or his/her family, associates, or others involved in complaint process or exercising civil rights.


When do Civil Rights Rules Apply: Civil rights rules apply at any time there is any federal financial assistance. Federal financial assistance is receiving anything of value from the federal government—not just cash. Because your food shelf receives federal food commodities, the rules apply.

Special Circumstances: Make sure people with disabilities and limited English are accommodated.

Treat all people with dignity and respect.

Maintain confidentiality. See the following section on Confidential Information.

Make sure individual data is kept confidential.

Sexual harassment is prohibited. Do not engage in or tolerate unwanted or unwelcome sexual behavior including jokes, touching, requests for sexual favors, etc. Report violations to management or to state or federal officials.

Advise people who allege discrimination about how to file a complaint. They may write to: USDA, Director, Office of Civil Rights, 1400 Independence Ave. S.W., Washington, D.C. 20250-9410, or call (800) 795-3272 or (202) 720-6382 (TTY).

If conflicts occur, remain calm. Call for assistance immediately if you feel threatened. Consider mediation or a third party to help resolve the situation.


SUBSTANCE ABUSE

Being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs while volunteering at CCEFS is considered a safety hazard. Anyone deemed under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be asked to leave and may be subject to police intervention and/or dismissal as a volunteer.


CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION

Confidentiality is vital to the clients, volunteers, donors, and staff at CCEFS. As a volunteer at CCEFS, we ask that you read and comply with the following Confidentiality Policy. If you agree to comply with the requirements, please sign the agreement. If you have any questions, please ask your supervisor or the Executive Director.


The following information is considered confidential and should not be disclosed:

The fact that someone:

*Is or has been a client.

*Is or has been a volunteer.

*Is a donor or has contributed money, goods, or services.


Any personal information about a client, volunteer, or staff member including:

*Financial information

*Living arrangements

*Employment status

*Drug and/or alcohol use and/or history of either

*Relationships, i.e. family, partners, or friends

*Medical condition or treatment


You understand that in the course of volunteer work at CCEFS you may learn certain facts about clients, volunteers, and employees that are highly personal and confidential and you understand that all such information is completely confidential. You agree not to disclose any information regarding any person without specific consent of that individual to whom the information pertains. If there is any question regarding the confidentiality of information, you will contact the supervisor to whom you report or the Executive Director.


If you disclose any confidential information, you may be asked to discontinue volunteering at CCEFS.



CCEFS Waiver of Liability

The undersigned Volunteer has agreed to work as a Volunteer for Christian Cupboard Emergency Food Shelf (CCEFS). As a Volunteer I understand that some of the activities performed by CCEFS volunteers involve a risk of injury. As a Volunteer I hereby expressly release, relinquish, and forever discharge CCEFS and the respective successors and representatives (collectively, the “Released Parties”) of and from any and all claims, which the undersigned may have against the Released Parties arising out of volunteer service for CCEFS and any and all related activities.



CCEFS Media Release

You grant permission to CCEFS to use your name, photo, or other image or likeness (hereinafter referred to as “materials”) for CCEFS’ website, Facebook account, other CCEFS social media, printed materials and/or press releases.


You release CCEFS, its representative, employees, managers, members, officers, parent companies, subsidiaries, and directors, from all claims and demands arising out of or in connection with any use of said materials, including, without limitation, all claims for invasion of privacy, infringement of my right of publicity, defamation, and any other personal and/or property rights.


You acknowledge and agree that no sums whatsoever will be due to you as a result of the use of said materials or any rights therein.



Agreement

My checking the "I Agree" box verifies I agree to and understand the following information:


* I am 15 years of age or older

* I will follow the practices outlined in CCEFS Policies and Civil Rights Training

* I understand my rights as outlined in the Waiver of Liability

* I grant CCEFS the right to use my image as per the Media Release

* I have not traveled within the last 14 days or been exposed to anyone with previous symptoms or a positive test for COVID-19 or influenza A and B.


I agree to abide by these policies. I understand that if I do not follow these policies, I will enter a disciplinary process that could end in a termination of volunteering for CCEFS.
