Become a Member of Thorne Harbour! (OPTIONAL)

Since our formation in 1983, our members have been considered an integral strength of the organisation. Working together, our members ensure that we remain on track to achieve our original mandate, ‘Until the epidemic is over’, and represent the community at all levels of the Victorian response to HIV. You can be a part of this response — to support the advocacy, campaigns, support services, fundraising, volunteering, publicity, research, and clinical work that we do.

As a member, we keep you up to date with the latest news, give you advanced notice of upcoming events, send you a copy of the Annual Report, and you get to feel good about supporting a worthwhile cause.

We offer three membership levels to all members of the public.

• Ordinary membership ($33/year) — Available to anybody who wishes to be a member

• Concession membership ($16.50/year) — Available to anybody who wishes to be a member and holds a valid concession card

• Free membership — Available to anybody who wishes to be a member and is living with HIV

Please note that you do not need to provide evidence of concession nor evidence of HIV status to be eligible for the membership types as we trust that you will choose the one that best fits your current situation.

If you would like to apply to become a member online please copy and paste the link below into your browser and follow the prompts.

Confidentiality & Police Check agreement

Confidentiality

I understand that the privacy of people affected by HIV is not to be disclosed, and that preservation of confidentiality is essential to the continued support and credibility with other professionals working in the area, government agencies and the community we serve.

Therefore, as a volunteer I will maintain strict confidentiality about people with whom I work, and will follow confidentiality guidelines issued by THH.

Police Check

There are a number of volunteer positions that require volunteers to have a national police check, either before commencing in the role or within a specified probationary period. THH uses CrimCheck, a secure web-based national criminal record checking service exclusively for the Not for Profit sector. CrimCheck accesses the national Criminal History Database in Canberra operated by CrimTrac, the same database that Victoria Police uses. THH is required to destroy any records pertaining to a volunteer's police check within 365 days of lodgement, this includes information about a volunteer's criminal history, the original application and any informed consent. By submitting the application, the volunteer acknowledges and provides consent for THH to conduct a police check if it is required for the volunteer role.
