Wassail! The Madrigal is back!
Please complete this form if you are interested in serving with us this year. We are planning to be able to celebrate the birth of Jesus with the traditional Madrigal festivities that we all know and love! Thankfully we do not anticipate a need to modify the event at this time. We are very grateful for your past service and support, and hope you will be able to join us again this year.
Please fill out the information below.
Please indicate the dates you are available and the roles you would like to serve. We will do our best to put you in your first choice, but will not always be able to do so. For training purposes, we do ask that you sign up for at least 3 nights of service, and attend a training event on either Sunday, November 21st or Tuesday, November 23rd. The training will include a general overview as well as specific training for each position. We will share both still shots and video of the way the tables should be set up and the way the tables will be served. There will also be training review before each performance.
Participants must be at least 16 years old. Volunteers may be 14 years old when accompanied by a parent.
Please see the Role Descriptions listed below for detailed information on each volunteer position. If you have questions, please contact the Volunteer Department at 719-272-7402 or firstname.lastname@example.org before filling out this application.

Here is a description of each of the available roles:
Deck the Halls- These volunteers get to decorate the Castle as well as the entire Glen Eyrie property for Christmas. It is a joyful experience to transform the property into a Christmas wonderland! This year we get double the fun because we have 2 days to decorate. Deck the Halls Day#1 is scheduled for Saturday, November 20th. Deck the Halls Day #2 will be on Wednesday, December 1st. The Undecorating Day will be December 28th.
Boar's Head Singer/Server(Men Only) - These men carry the boar's head prop into the Great Hall during the processional while singing the Boar's Head Carol. During the rest of the performance, they serve food along with the rest of the food servers. Since this is a singing role, it requires learning the carol and auditioning with the Madrigal Director.
Coat Check Attendant - In this role, you will collect guests' coats and provide them with a claim ticket. You will also answer questions, and help guests as needed. You will remain in the coat check room in case a guest gets cold and wants to retrieve their coat during the performance. At the end of the night, you will check claim tickets and return coats to their owners.
Dining Set-Up - This position takes place in the afternoon before the Madrigal and is responsible to setup the Great Hall for the evening, primarily by setting the tables. It is possible to serve in this position and another evening or morning position.
Honor Guard - In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring the entrance and exit of the Great Hall. You will also assist the valet. This position has duties both inside and outside the Castle and requires a lot of standing.
Ironing - Someone has to make those costumes look good! Each day the costumes are prepared for the night, and the ironing team helps with that. It is possible to serve in this position and an evening position on the same day.
Kitchen Prep - This early kitchen shift primarily helps with meal preparation for the Volunteer Meal which is served to Madrigal volunteers at 4pm on performance nights. The times are 2:00-8:00pm. (Special culinary skills or experience are not required.)
Kitchen Staff- In this role, you will assist the kitchen staff with the preparation and plating of the Madrigal meal that the guests will eat. The times are 4:00-10:00pm. (Special culinary skills or experience are not required.)
Food Servers (Female or Male) - In this role you will seat guests and carry in props for the processional, serve each course with the help of a partner, clear each course and assist with cleanup at the end of the meal. Details of the serving line will be provided at the training events, and a review will be given before each performance as well.
Beverage Servers (Female or Male) - In this role you will serve and refill hot and cold drinks as needed and assist with cleanup at the end of the meal. You may also be asked to assist with seating guests and/or carrying a prop in the processional if needed.
Valet Parking - In this role, you will assist in parking vehicles for incoming Madrigal guests who request the service and are comfortable with valets being inside their cars. You will be outside during arrival and departure time, but will be inside helping to clear dishes during the show. There is also a fire pit outside for you to stand by when not out in the parking lot. For this position, you will need to complete an online training to become an authorized driver.
Wassail Server- In this role, you will serve wassail (a hot drink similar to apple cider) to guests and assist the dining staff by keeping the wassail and cups refilled. You will also clean up after the guests go up to the Great Hall for dinner. This role ends earlier than the other roles, and is a good one to combine with dining setup and/or ironing.
Hors d' Oeuvres Server-In this role, you will serve hors d' oeuvres (appetizers) to guests and assist the dining staff by keeping the appetizer stations refilled. You will also clean up after the guests go up to the Great Hall for dinner. This role ends earlier than the other roles, and is a good one to combine with dining setup and/or ironing.
All positions have dress requirements except Ironing, Dining Setup, Deck the Halls, and Kitchen. All costumes will be provided.

Each volunteer may select one incentive based on the number of nights they personally worked. (We're sorry, but individuals may not combine their volunteer service.)
Gift certificates are redeemable toward any Glen Eyrie Group purchase (e.g., bookstore, teas, programs, or an overnight stay.) In addition, gift certificates will also be redeemable toward registration for Eagle Lake Summer Camp.
All incentives are good for 1 year and WILL EXPIRE on the expiration date.
