The mission of the Saint Therese Youth Volunteer Scholarship is to honor volunteer service & encourage intergenerational relationships.

Annually, Saint Therese awards two $2,000 educational scholarships in recognition of youth volunteers who enrich the lives of seniors.

Please review the eligibility requirements below.

• All youth volunteers in grades 9 through 12 during the 2020-21 school year and have completed a minimum of 20 hours with one or more seniors by the date of submission are eligible to apply.

• Prior year applicants who have not received an award are encouraged to reapply. Prior recipients are not eligible and will not be considered.

• Eligible applicants have spent time impacting the lives of seniors (relative or non-relative) in a care facility, independent or assisted living, a senior day program, in one’s neighborhood or community. Volunteer hours may be spent the following ways: Social visits (can be “virtual)”, helping with household chores, raking leaves, shoveling snow, grocery shopping, etc.

Eligible applicants reside in the seven county Twin Cities metro area (Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott, Washington) or the western Wisconsin counties of Pierce or St. Croix.

Parent/Guardian Agreement and Consent

Return of a signed parental/Guardian consent form is REQUIRED for applicants under the age of 18. Please include parent/guardian name, mailing address, email address and phone number below. A parental consent form will be provided to parent/guardian upon receipt of scholarship application.

• I agree that St. Therese Foundation, Inc. (Saint Therese) may use applicant name, age, essay submission, photographs, slides, videos or illustrations in newsletters or other communication produced by Saint Therese and subsidiaries as well as in slide presentations, videos, social media, print and electronic communications and websites about the scholarships by media in Saint Therese news coverage, in videos produced by Saint Therese and other similar forms of communication.

• Local media (TV, newspaper, radio stations) may interview applicants and recipients for stories. Applicant comments may be used in newspapers or broadcast on radio or TV.

• I give permission to Saint Therese and news media to use applicant name, age, essay submission, photographs, slides, videos, illustrations or interviews. Further, I authorize use without inspecting or approving the finished product or its specific use.

• I acknowledge the Youth Volunteer Scholarship is not transferable.
