Age Requirements

Court-Appointed Workers must be 18 years of age or older to work at the Food Bank without a parent or legal guardian. You must have a parent or guardian submit an application and be present if you are not of legal age.

Rules and Policy Agreement

Hours: Court-Appointed work hours are Monday - Friday from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm and 12:45 pm - 3:45 pm. These hours are subject to change due to availability. 

Training: Volunteers may be required to participate in classroom training. These conditions may be waived by the Assembly Coordinator, depending on the task they are being asked to perform. No volunteer hours can be accumulated at the BVFB prior to receiving this initial training or authorization by Assembly Coordinator.

Signing-In: Court-Appointed Workers will sign in and sign out each day on the volunteer work log to record hours and date of work.

Attire: BVFB's Warehouse climate-controlled. Therefore, workers should dress accordingly. Only closed-toed and closed-heel shoes can be worn, no matter what time of year it is.

Technology: Cell phones may only be used during break times or in the case of emergency. Headphones are not allowed in the Volunteer Center for safety/awareness purposes. 

Smoking: Smoking and chewing tobacco is permitted during break times only and in designated areas outside (behind the warehouse). At no time is smoking or chewing tobacco allowed inside the Brazos Valley Food Bank (warehouse, loading area, restroom, etc.). BVFB, Inc. volunteer while on BVFB premises, while working or representing BVFB, unless prescribed by a personal physician. Anyone who comes to volunteer under the influence of drugs or alcohol will be sent home.

Weapons: Items that may be considered weapons such as firearms, knives (including pocketknives) or any other weapons are not allowed on BVFB premises.

Discrimination/Harassment: Court-Appointed Workers will demonstrate respect to all other volunteers, visitors and staff and not express any form of discrimination (relating to age, sex, religion, ethnicity or disability) or sexual harassment (unwelcome and unsolicited advances, requests for sexual favors, etc.). If a worker feels he/she has been discriminated against or harassed by a BVFB Staff Person, inform another BVFB, Inc. employee immediately. Coming forward with this information will be treated as confidentially as possible and will not effect your treatment here as a volunteer.

Use of BVFB Property: Court-Appointed Workers may not remove any BVFB food or non-food products from the premises, and may not consume BVFB food or drink unless a BVFB staff member offers it to them. Should you need assistance in obtaining food, we can provide you with a list of local food pantries.

Termination: Workers may be required to end their service with us for misconduct or failure to follow instructions.

* I agree to receive non-perishable food evaluation training from a Brazos Valley Food Bank employee.

* I understand that I may be required to lift up to 40 or more lbs.

* I am aware of the safety equipment and its whereabouts in the warehouse and have been trained on how to wear the equipment properly and know it is available to me at my leisure.

Agreement and Photo Consent

By submitting this application, you agree to hold harmless the Brazos Valley Food Bank, Inc., its employees, volunteers, or agents from any and all claims or causes that may arise from performance of my assigned duties as a volunteer. I waive any right of action I have against the Brazos Valley Food Bank, Inc. in consideration of my participation as a volunteer for the Brazos Valley Food Bank, Inc.

Photo Consent: By submitting this application, you are giving Brazos Valley Food Bank the right to use photos/videos taken by representatives of BVFB and of any reproduction of the photographs in any forms. I hereby waive my right of inspection or approval of photo/video or of the use that may be made of the photos/videos and your name.

Ethical Conduct and Confidentiality Policy

All Client, donor, volunteer/community service worker and/or employee information collected for these purposes is confidential and may not be disclosed to any person or group without the express authorization of the client, donor, community service worker and /or employee (or his or her authorized agent). In addition, client, donor, volunteer/community service worker and/or employee information is not to be used by employees for personal gain or for any other reason other than as required in the scope of an employee duties with the Brazos Valley Food Bank.

All client, donor, volunteer/community service worker and/or employee information in paper form is to be kept in lockable file cabinets any time when not in use. All client, donor, volunteer/community service worker and/or employee information in electronic form is to be password protected, and all such written and/or electronic information may not be removed from the Brazos Valley Food Bank premises, and may not be stored on personal computing devices, including cell phones. This provision shall not be construed to prevent Brazos Valley Food Bank staff persons from volunteering to other staff persons their personal cell phone numbers or email addresses and in those events, keeping such cell phone numbers or email addresses on the staff person's personal computing devices.

Any breach of this Ethical Conduct Confidentiality Policy by a staff member/volunteer will be cause for termination.
