Please complete this application if you are interested in volunteering for the Wildlife Rescue Center.
NOTE: You must be at least 18 years of age to work directly with any animals. Those wishing to volunteer in Animal Care must be able to commit to one 5-hour shift per week for 16 consecutive weeks.
Applicants between the ages of 14-17 may apply to volunteer on our Quality Care/Sustainability Team and our Habitat Restoration Team. Open positions in these areas may be limited depending on the needs of the Center and available Mentors.
All prospective volunteers are required to attend a New Volunteer Orientation, as well as training in their chosen area, before volunteering. To cover the cost of training and materials, all volunteers will be encouraged at that time to become a Wildlife Rescue Center Member at a cost of $28. If your financial situation will make this difficult, please let us know.
Thank you for your interest in volunteering for the Wildlife Rescue Center. We hope to meet you soon!
Email is the primary means of communication within this organization. We keep our volunteers informed of important news, schedules, and volunteer opportunities. An email address is required to access our Volunteer Information Center. Please check your spam and junk e-mail folders to ensure you receive confirmation of this application within one week.
Please list your current or most recent employer, if applicable.
If you are seeking service hours, please fill out the information below. Due to the amount of time and training that goes into working with wildlife, only those needing 60 hours or more may apply to volunteer in Animal Care. If you are required to complete less than this, you may apply to volunteer in Quality Care, Grounds-keeping, Habitat Restoration, or Maintenance. The Wildlife Rescue Center does not accept individual volunteers required to complete less than 15 hours of service.
Please indicate your primary areas of interest. The options listed are your starting points, and additional assignments are available after basic training is completed in one or more of the these areas.
Please indicate the shifts that will be best for your regularly scheduled volunteer time. Those wishing to volunteer in Animal Care must be able to commit to one, 5-hour shift per week for a minimum of 16 weeks. Please be aware that some shifts have a greater need, and placement will be where the need is greatest. Please also note that evening shifts are held during the busy season only (April - October). During the off-season (November - February), volunteer shifts are held during the morning and afternoon only.
Are you current on both Medical Insurance and the Tetanus Immunization?
