*IF YOU LIVE OVER 1 HOUR AWAY FROM ANIMAL WELFARE ASSOCIATION LOCATED AT 509 CENTENNIAL BLVD. VOORHEES, NJ 08043, PLEASE CONSIDER FOSTERING AT A SHELTER CLOSER TO YOU. THANK YOU.*
Please complete this application form if you are interested in becoming an Animal Welfare Association Foster volunteer. Please allow one week before being contacted via email by the Foster Care Coordinator. Once you complete the form, click the submit button at the bottom.
You must be 18 years or older to Foster. All chosen applicants must attend a foster training.
Please provide one person we can contact should there be an emergency with your foster animal and we cannot get in contact with you.
If so, who?
List the number of adults, ages of children and species and ages of pets. Are all residents of your home aware of the possibility of fostering? Are there any residents who are allergic or fearful of animals?
This may include grandchildren, neighbors or your own children. If yes, please list what type of contact the children will have with the foster animals and their ages.
AWA provides free medicine and veterinary services for the animals. Are you able to administer medications? Are you able to provide fresh food, water and basic supplies to your foster animals? Do you have safe and reliable transportation for the animal to and from AWA for bi weekly health checks?
What do you hope to gain from fostering for AWA?
If yes, please elaborate. List any special skills/interests that may help you with fostering. I.e. Dog training, bottle-feeding animals, veterinarian studies etc.
How will you exercise and house your foster animal? Do you have a yard? Is it fenced in?
Are you able to care for sick foster animals and administer medication with instruction?
Are you willing to work with foster pets who are often not housebroken or litter box trained?
We need fosters for Dogs, Cats, and Bunnies of all ages and temperaments. Are there any specific breeds, species, medical or behavioral traits you are not willing to foster?
Is there a place in the house that you are able to separate and house your foster animal(s) from your pets? Are you able to disinfect this area between foster pets?
Foster parents are expected to keep any foster animals separate from your owned pets to reduce risk to owned animals. AWA Cannot reimburse you for any veterinary costs incurred to treat your own pets. I am aware that I must be 18 years or older to be considered.
