How to register for Court Appointed Community Service with Society of Samaritans

  1. Complete this online application form, you will receive a response to your application via email. 
  2. Your application will be reviewed, if placement for service is available
    • You will come in person on Tuesday or Thursday between 10:00am and 2:00pm to interview with Linda Klorres - Community Service Coordinator.  Please call our office if you have any questions 281-259-8452.
    • Bring your photo ID and court documents to the interview.
    • During your interview you will receive further instructions.    
  3. After completing this form, you must click the Continue button at the bottom to submit your form.  Please be sure to read and understand the expectations and code of conduct at the bottom of this form.

Availability

Please indicate the days and times you are available to serve.  All applicants MUST be APPROVED prior to serving any court appointed community service hours at Society of Samaritans.  

Food Pantry Community Service is available from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday .

Giving Center Community Service is available from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm Saturday on

We share the love of Jesus Christ by providing food, clothing, emergency financial assistance, job services, and disaster recovery relief to residents of the Greater Magnolia area. This is a community effort. The Society of Samaritans is simply an extension of the community in action, working together to assist people who are disabled, disadvantaged, or unable to meet all of their needs. SOS partners with churches, government, and civic organizations to make this happen.



CODE OF CONDUCT

Rules and Expectations

During my service, I am expected to abide by, and I agree to abide by the

following:

  • Arrive on time.
  • Obey the site supervisor.
  • Not leave the worksite without communicating with site supervisor.
  • Not carry any sort of weapon.
  • Cell phones must be turned off and stowed away while working.
  • One 5 minute break or as approved by site supervisor.
  • Not take or remove ANY items for ANY reason from the SOS Food Pantry or merchandise from the Resale Shop or Giving Center, unless authorized by the Team Lead.   
  • Treat SOS clients, visitors, donors, fellow volunteers, and employees with respect and courtesy.
  • Contribute to and uphold the SOS Mission Statement and Vision.
  • Refrain from vulgar or abusive language and conduct myself in a professional manner.
  • Remain consciously aware that everything I do, directly or indirectly, has the potential to reflect upon SOS as a whole.
  • Show a willingness to be trained and maintain an open-minded perspective regarding duties and assignments.
  • Abstain from the use, possession, or be under the influence of any illegal substance or alcohol at any time during my volunteer service.
  • Use my best knowledge and discretion while representing SOS as a volunteer.


Dress Code

Your appearance should always reflect professionalism. Clothing should be neat, clean and in good repair.  Practice good hygiene. Long hair should be pulled back so that it is less likely to become tangled in any equipment. The smell of tobacco or body odor should not be apparent.

The following are not allowed:

  • Open toed shoes or sandals, either in the Food Pantry or where heavy items are being moved;
  • Clothing or shirts with inappropriate logo or pictures; 
  • Face and lip jewelry should not be worn while on site or at any SOS sponsored event.

I understand that failure to comply with Society of Samaritans Code of Conduct for Court Appointed Community Service will result in me being asked to leave and may result in me not being able to fulfill my community service hours obligations with Society of Samaritans.
