Teen Volunteer Contract

I understand that as a teen volunteer at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher, I must abide by the following rules and requirements, understanding that failure to do so may result in my discharge from the teen volunteer program.

1. I will remember that I am a representative of the Aquarium to the public and I will act in a mature and responsible manner. I will not use my phone when on duty.

2. I will follow the instructions of Aquarium staff and designated volunteers.

3. I will not handle any animals without NC Aquarium staff present (with the exception of the animals in the touch tank).

4. I will wear the appropriate attire when I come in for my shift including Aquarium t-shirt, khaki shorts, pants or skirt, closed- toed shoes, and a nametag.

5. I will wear my aquarium uniform only when I am scheduled to come in to work. I will not wear my uniform to gain free admission for myself or anyone else when I am not scheduled to come in.

6. I will only eat or drink in the designated break areas, not in exhibit areas.

7. I will be on time for all shifts I am scheduled for. If I must miss a shift or am running late, I will notify the Teen Volunteer Coordinator at 910-772-0508.

8. I will be courteous and respectful to all NC Aquarium staff, volunteers, and the public.

9. I will not guess or make up any answers to questions I am unsure of. Instead, I will find the answer by looking it up, asking staff or another volunteer for assistance, or by taking the visitor’s name, address, and question so that a staff member may respond to the question once an answer has been found.

10. I will fulfill my volunteer time commitment of 8 hours a month for 6 months (50 hours total including orientation).
