Community Service/Service Learning

Are you or someone you are volunteering with completing community service hours? What are the hours for? Please check the appropriate box and explain below.

Please select a day and time you can volunteer.

We ask volunteers to serve one shift per week (usually 3 hours), and to schedule in advance.

What inspired you to volunteer with the SPCA?

Describe any special skills or interests.

For example: Do you speak another language? Do you have any applicable work experience?

What companion animals (if any) do you have?

Have you ever adopted a pet from the SPCA?

What are your thoughts about euthanasia?

The SPCA is an organization that never turns away animals that need sheltering and care. This means that we accept animals into our care with aggression, temperament, and/or medical issues that other organizations will not accept. Companion animals which cannot be successfully treated for medical issues under the guidance of our veterinarian, which are aggressive to the point of being unsafe around other animals or people, or have unresolvable temperament issues will not be placed for adoption but will be humanly euthanized. If you would like to discuss this issue further, please contact our Volunteer Program Manager at (831) 264-5423

What volunteer position are you applying for?

Available volunteer opportunities are listed on our website. Please list the area(s) you are interested in below.

Have you ever been convicted of a crime?

If yes, state where, when and the nature of the conviction. For your safety and the safety of others, all adult volunteer applicants must successfully pass a criminal background check for crimes against animals, people, property, and illegal use of controlled substances before they can be accepted for service. Please do not disclose convictions related to the possession or use of marijuana more than two years ago.

I understand and agree that this application does not guarantee acceptance into the volunteer program. I understand there are requirements I must meet before I will be able to volunteer.

I also understand that upon successful interview, I am required to pay the Volunteer Administration fee, $30. This fee covers background check, uniform, training and training materials.

By submitting this form, I attest that the information I have provided is accurate and true.
