Thank you for your interest in becoming a Hospice Halifax volunteer. Hospice Halifax is a compassionate and supportive community of staff members, volunteers, and donors dedicated to making dying and living as comfortable and meaningful as possible at end of life. Hospice Halifax strives to recruit qualified, experienced, and compassionate volunteers to foster its success.

Individuals will be recruited for volunteer positions without discriminatory regard to age, colour, disability, gender, national origin, race, religion, or any other characteristics protected by law.

Due to the vulnerable nature of the individuals that we support, all potential volunteer candidates are thoroughly screened through interviews, references and police record checks. Volunteers are also required to complete interactive training (in either the spring or fall session). Depending on when we receive an application, this process can take up to 6 months before a volunteer is ready to be matched to a role. We ask that individuals be prepared to make a minimum commitment of one-year post-training.
