We/I give my permission for my child/or myself to work/volunteer at the Humane Society of Macomb Animal Shelter. Our/ My tasks will include working with the animals such as puppies, dogs, cats, kittens and more. Bathing, brushing, walking, cleaning kennels, office work ect. may also be done. We/ I understand that some animals may bite, scratch, jump on me, pull me during walks, etc. and therefore acknowledge the Humane Society of Macomb Animal Shelter cannot be held liable for any injury(s) that may/could occur while interacting with the animals. We/ I hereby indemnify the Humane Society of Macomb from any and all liability arising out of the services performed by my child/ myself while volunteering for the Humane Society of Macomb.
As a volunteer at the Humane Society of Macomb, we/ I recognize and acknowledge that during the course of our/ my duties, we/ I may have access to certain information not generally known to the public. Volunteers may not divulge confidential information about the Humane Society of Macomb’s employees, volunteers, customers, or adopters and confidential animal information without the written consent of the Humane Society of Macomb. Further, neither the Humane Society of Macomb nor the volunteer shall make any negative or disparaging comments or remarks about the other party.
We/I agree that the Humane Society of Macomb may photograph my child/myself during my participation in the shelter. And we/I hereby release any such photographs to the Humane Society of Macomb for use in programs, publications and other purposes.
We/ I agree to bring in my vaccination record (showing tetanus valid within last ten years) to be able to volunteer or know we/ I will be sent home.
We/ I agree to attend a one-hour volunteer orientation before working with any of the animals in the shelter.
Volunteers will receive emailed notifications of upcoming scheduled orientations.
We/ I understand that this application does not apply to court-ordered community service applicants and any hours logged as a volunteer instead of a community-service worker will not be considered for court.
*We/ I agree to practice fear-free training and will not use aggressive training. Aggressive training includes dominating the shelter animal, being the alpha, and/or yelling at a shelter animal.*
