Once your application is approved, you will receive an email giving you specific instructions on how to log in to your personal volunteer page to schedule yourself or your group for volunteer times with us. Dallas LIFE Volunteer Info
This is a very important option to keep open. This allows us to correspond with you about important volunteer updates of which all volunteers should be aware. Including your volunteer approval. Please keep this option open so we can correspond with you as need be.
The system will send you automatic schedule reminders so that you can keep up to date about when you are scheduled. It is recommended that you receive these reminders.
We will use this option if it is necessary for you to send us any further information for a volunteer opportunity that you have selected. This will also remind you when your application needs to be renewed.
Dallas LIFE Volunteer Guidelines
Please read through the following. If you agree to all the items below, please check the "I Agree" box at the bottom of the page. If you cannot agree with something on this list for any reason, please contact us and we can discuss the matter with you further. Thank you.
Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled time to allow time to sign in and get to your post in time. If you are unable to attend on a date that you are scheduled or circumstances in your life change in which you are no longer able to volunteer, please let us know as soon as possible. You may e-mail the Director of Volunteerism at firstname.lastname@example.org or call the Director of Volunteerism at 214-421-1380 ext 30.
We do not accept walk-in volunteers at Dallas LIFE. If you are not on the schedule, you will not be permitted in the building, due to safety precautions.
Sign In Procedure:
When you arrive on your scheduled date(s), PLEASE SIGN IN/OUT at the touch screen kiosk at the Security desk using the Volunteer PIN number that was assigned to you. For security purposes, you will not be able to sign in or stay to volunteer without your Volunteer PIN number. Let Security know what you are there to do and they will get you to your assigned area.
All groups/volunteers need to follow the Dallas LIFE dress code. Shorts may be worn, but need to come to the knees; shirts must cover the body and have sleeves. Ladies: please no tight fitting clothes or low cut tops. Please wear tennis shoes or some kind of closed toe, rubber soled shoes to protect the feet. Absolutely no flip flops may be worn. For those volunteers who are working in the kitchen, please wear a ball cap preferably with no writing on it. If there is writing, please be sure it does not say anything offensive or include any beer/wine logos. As per health code, all food service workers must wear either a hair net or a cap. We no longer provide hair nets to volunteers.
If you are coming to baby-sit or work with the children in any capacity, please be mindful of the toys that you find in all play areas. Please make sure that the toys remain in the designated play areas as many outside companies and foundations that purchase those things for us regularly come to evaluate how well those programs are being monitored.
Those babysitters bringing children along with them to volunteer need to make sure the child volunteer is not under the age of 14. No child volunteers can be left in control of the babysitting area since that would breech what our insurance policy allows.
Our address is 1100 Cadiz St, Dallas, TX 75215. We are located right off of I-30 between Lamar and Griffin. We do have free parking. Our parking spaces are very limited, so if you are coming with a group, please car-pool if possible. If all the parking spaces are filled, you may park in the back of the building. Please be sure to let Security know what your license plate number is and where you are parked. Please be aware that if you arrive after 6:00pm, the main gate will be closed. Please pull up to the gate and let the gate attendant know that you are there to volunteer. He/she will then open the gate for you.
Statement of Faith:
We are a non-denominational Christian shelter where Christ is preached and we strongly believe that salvation comes only through the finished work of Christ on the cross. Knowing that our volunteers may have varying views on the area of spiritual gifts, we do not embrace the use of tongues, healings, apostleship, prophecy or miracles, in that we see the completed scriptures as all that is necessary for us to operate as the church on the earth today, therefore, we simply ask that all refrain from utilizing or teaching in our chapel that these gifts are for use today.
