You have expressed an interest in volunteering at The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk with our Dive Team. We are currently accepting applications AOW divers and above.
The minimum age for all prospective volunteers is 15. A $50 fee is required to enroll in the volunteer program. This fee defrays the direct costs of background check, uniforms, insurance, and training materials. All prospective volunteer and paid staff are required to fill out a background authorization form. A US Social Security number is required to complete the background check. In addition to the requirements listed above, to become a member of the Dive Team, you must have a minimum certification level of Advanced Open Water, have current CPR, First Aid, Physician’s certification, and DAN insurance, and have completed a minimum of 25 open water dives. The minimum time commitment required from volunteers is 100 hours. Weekends and holidays will be required. After successful completion of the training course, a uniform t-shirt and name badge will be issued to graduates to be worn while on duty. Letters of recommendation, and other service award forms will be signed by our staff at the completion of the 100 hours of service.
