Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.

We are NOT accepting court ordered community service at this time.

To foster, you must live within 40 minutes of our facility and be able to bring your foster animal(s) into us 2-4 times a month.

Court & Community Service Information

NOTE: We are no longer accepting court ordered community service at this time.

TNR A Better Chance has restrictions on types of court-mandated volunteers it can accept. If completing hours for court, you will need to provide documentation of cause before your first shift. Documentation of hours completed will not be provided without this paperwork. 

IMPORTANT NOTE: Those volunteering for required community service hours can only sign up for "Morning Shelter Care" at Kitten Division, "Shelter Care (Dogs)" at Puppy Division and "Sort and Stock Assist" at our thrift shop.

By submitting this application, applicant (and parent/guardian if under 18) is signifying that applicant (and parent/guardian if under 18) acknowledges that TNR A Better Chance legally operates under several different names and locations and this application applies to all holdings, organizations, locations, events and activities of TNR A Better Chance.

I will abide by the mission, rules, regulations, policies, and programs of TNR A Better Chance while I am a volunteer.

I will treat all animals with respect and will work as a team member with other volunteers.

I assume the risks of being bitten, scratched, injured, or frightened by any animals in connection with my volunteer work for TNR A Better Chance. TNR A Better Chance is not liable to me for any injuries, damages, liabilities, losses, judgments, costs, or expenses whatsoever, which I might suffer or sustain in connection with the performance of my volunteer activities for TNR A Better Chance. I will indemnify, defend and hold TNR A Better Chance, including the Board of Directors, Officers and volunteers, harmless from and against any claims, lawsuits, injuries, damages, losses, costs or expenses whatsoever, sustained by any companion animal or any person in connection with my intentional misconduct or grossly negligent performance of volunteer activities for TNR A Better Chance, or by my breach of TNR A Better Chance‚Äôs rules, regulations, policies, and programs.  

I am current on my tetanus vaccination and am covered by a health insurance plan. I do not have any serious medical conditions that prohibit me from participating in the typical activities of an animal shelter volunteer.  

I understand that I may not bring any unauthorized friends, relatives, children, or pets to any TNR A Better Chance facility or event at any time without advance written permission.  

I understand that I am not entitled to any benefits for my personal companion animals, including free or reduced-price spay/neuter, medical care, animal food, pet supplies, or any other goods or services obtained by TNR A Better Chance. I will not remove or use any pet food or supplies from TNR A Better Chance for my own personal use.  

I understand that TNR A Better Chance is the sole and rightful owner of the animal(s) in the shelter and foster care. I understand that I do not have the authority to give, transfer, adopt out, or otherwise give custody of any animal(s) under the custody (regardless of shelter or foster home) of TNR A Better Chance to any other person, or organization.  

I authorize TNR A Better Chance to use photographs of me for public relations purposes.  

I understand and agree that TNR A Better Chance may refuse volunteer applications for any reason.  

I understand that government issued photo identification, preferable a state issued drivers license or identification card, must be presented at the first occurrence of my volunteer work. I understand that a copy of this identification will be made and will remain a permanent part of my volunteer file.
