Duties:

NEW ON-CALL READER NEEDED FOR TIME SENSTIVE PROJECT (1.14.22)

 

The Lighthouse Guild Reading Services program has 1 client needing ON CALL READING SUPPORT for TIME SENSITIVE PROJECTS.  This is for a volunteer that wants to be of service but can’t commit to a being a Weekly Reader. Currently we are looking for a volunteers for a -1 time reading sessions where you help out the client in need of immediate assistance while we look for a Full Time Reader for them. 

 

All ON-CALL reading sessions happen at the Lighthouse Guild at 250 West 64th Street & West End Avenue. 

The Lighthouse Guild follows strict city and CDC Covid-19 protocols which include temperature check, masking requirements for vaccinated and unvaccinated clients/staff & volunteers; along with sanitized reading rooms. Lighthouse Guild will provide face guards and other PPE if needed. Job Summary: 

Volunteers will read legal forms and documents provided by the clients.  In addition to reading, volunteers will assist with completing forms, organizing supporting documents and helping client with activities that otherwise supports the client’s reading needs at this time.

 

Requirements:

  • High School to College level reader required.

  • Ethical character, trustworthy and reliable. 

  • Strong reading voice. 

  • Able to read for an extended period of time.

  • Strong commitment to service required.

  • Proficiency with filling out online forms a plus

  • Assisting with simple tasks that support successful completion of the project.

Documents need to be filed by Monday January 31, 2022

Volunteer Reader will assist with:

· Helping the client with lease renewal

agreement and work disability papers

·  Client will provide supporting documents for any references needed.

· Comfortable with compiling, organizing and scanning documents that support project outcome

· LGI will provide assistance with documents needing to be scanned, copied or use of laptop if necessary.
