Cooking Matters Class Assistant

Duties: Cooking Matters Colorado is a nutrition education program that fights hunger by teaching families how to make healthy and budget-wise food choices. Volunteers help to create a long-term solution to hunger by giving families the confidence and ability to be more self-sufficient, improve their eating habits, and food budgeting skills.
Position responsible for assisting with Cooking Matters classroom set-up, operation, and clean-up. Helps to unload groceries, supplies and equipment. Arranges tables and chairs as necessary, sanitizes surfaces. Prepares cooking materials and supplies for classroom instruction. Assists with classroom clean-up.
Qualifications: Successful completion of application and interview.
Successful completion of appropriate screenings including criminal background check.
Completes program orientation and position specific training.
Dress code is business casual with comfortable shoes.
Must enjoy interacting with participants and families.
Serve as a positive role model for participants in classroom.
The position is flexible roughly three hours per week during 6 week class series schedule.
Maintains participant and family confidentiality.
Ability to be nonjudgmental and empathetic.
Good listening and communication skills.
Completes ans submits volunteer hours to position supervisor monthly.
Abides by all Hilltop policies/procedures and Code of Conduct.
Notifies supervisor if not able to make scheduled visits.
Maintains open communication with other team members-reporting all concerns to supervisor.
Participates in volunteer check-in meeting with supervisor.
