Food Shelf
Duties:

Program Overview: The Food Shelf is open Monday-Wednesday to our Phillips neighbors. Congregations, organizations, foundations, partner food banks and individuals donate 23 tons of food monthly to CES.  The volunteers ensure the products are intact, not damaged and stored properly. Each month, 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Unpack and sort food rescue
  • Stock and organize food shelves 
  • Keep area clean
  • Break down boxes for recycling
  • Support staff with miscellaneous tasks as needed

Qualifications:

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • The ability to relate with compassion and empathy in a professional and friendly manner
  • Work cooperatively with neighbors, volunteers, vendors/donors to improve the food shelf operations and neighbor’s experience.
  • Ability to overcome challenges that may arise and know when to seek assistance from CES staff for more complex issues that may not have a clear or immediate solution
  • Enjoy arranging items in a specific order and ability to carry out tasks in an orderly manner
