Overnight Volunteer
Duties:

Our overnight volunteers serve from 8:45pm - 8:00am. It's long hours, but because of this position we can provide an average of 400 beds per month. This means these patrons are not having to find a place outside or otherwise to sleep while maintaining their employment, case work, or many other responsibilities. 
Duties Include: Supervising overnight check-in, communicating with on-call staff/ emergency services as needed, overseeing patron expectations and behaviors, ensuring The Mission stays at Health Department assigned capacity

Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years old and comfortable in a leadership position.

Must complete a volunteer orientation.


Directions:

SCHEDULE:


-Arrive at 10:00 to open the doors. Please contact me if you do not have the code to the key box. This code is to be kept confidential.


-Allow guests to enter until 11:00 and then lock the doors. No one is allowed to enter the building after this time. Guests know that if they step out for any reason they will not be able to come back in. This is an important safety measure for everyone staying overnight.


-At 11:00 it is lights out. There should be no talking or moving around (except to go to the bathroom, of course). We try to keep things quiet so everyone can get a good nights sleep.


-Please keep the keys with you so you can lock and unlock the doors that lead to the volunteer bedroom. Do not allow anyone to enter the volunteer area.


-At 5:30 am please gently wake the guests and remind them that everyone must be out by 6:00 am.


-At 6:00 am lock the doors to the building and return the keys to the lockbox. Please ensure the box is locked and secure before leaving.


RULES:


-Volunteers are not allowed to give guests money, rides, or any other items. Guests are aware of this rule and know not to ask.


-Our main job as volunteers is to offer love, compassion, and support for those in need. Please treat all guests with compassion and maintain a servants heart.
