Adopt-a-Kiosk
Location: Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge
Maintenance
Duties: Volunteer is responsible for litter pick up around the kiosk and kiosk parking area and for washing the interpretive signs as needed. After each check, the volunteer reports to refuge staff any major repairs needs, large trash items that need disposal, damages, vandalism and any unusual situations. The refuge provides trash bags and arrangements for trash disposal if needed.
Qualifications & Time Commitment: Must complete a volunteer orientation with the volunteer coordinator prior to volunteering. Volunteers must be in good physical condition and able to work independently with a minimum amount of supervision. Volunteers should be prepared by wearing proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and dress for outdoor work. Volunteers are responsible for their own transportation.

Volunteers should visit their designated kiosk a minimum of one time a month (April-November).
Job Hazards: Potential hazards for this role include outdoor hazards such as scratches from plants (may include thorns and nettles), rash from poison ivy, insect bites/stings, or sunburn. Other potential hazards include injury from slips, trips and falls, blisters or foot problems could occur from walking, strain from bending and lifting, cuts/abrasions to hands and arms, or strain from lifting heavy trash objects or trash bags.
