Orientation For New Volunteers
**** Due to the COVID virus the orientation class part 1 will be done virtual. Part 2 (picking up leash, volunteer t-shirt & ID badge)will be done another day. ****|
Before you can volunteer with the Friends of BCAS, you must attend an Orientation For New Volunteers Class. We offer orientation classes at the Burlington County Animal Shelter.
Pick the date that works best for you. In the class, you'll learn about many volunteer opportunities, including shelter duties, walking dogs, playing with cats, photography, grooming, fostering and more. Bring $20 (exact change) for your volunteer t-shirt & ID badge.
As a volunteer, you must sign in and sign out every time you visit the shelter using the laptop at the volunteer workstation. Your PIN # is your main contact phone number without the area code.
All animal handling volunteers must be 18 years of age or older.
All volunteers must follow policies set forth by the Burlington County Health Department.
A minimum of 4 hours per month is required to remain active. There are opportunities to volunteer outside the shelter.
Shelter hours are: 8 AM - 4 PM (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday) & 8 AM - 7 PM (Thursday). The shelter is closed on County holidays.
Friends of BCAS asks all volunteers to help in different areas when help is needed. Depending on what volunteer work you would like to be involved in, you will need to complete different levels of training.|
The virtual meeting link will be emailed the day before. For part 2 we meet BEHIND the shelter at the volunteer entrance (Do NOT enter building).|
