Location: Fire Rescue (FR)

The Polk County Fire Rescue Cadets program is a youth organization sponsored by Polk County Fire Rescue for youth who want a career in Fire Rescue Services.

Polk County Fire Rescue provides Advanced Life Support transport to all residents and visitors of Polk County. It also provides fire suppression, rescue services and fire prevention services to all of unincorporated Polk County and the municipalities of Eagle Lake, Polk City, Mulberry, Lake Hamilton and Hillcrest Heights. 

Main Assignment Responsibilities

  • Attend monthly meetings
  • Shadow public safety officials


  • Polk County Fire Rescue is open Monday through Friday 8am-5pm
  • Scheduling will be discussed at the time of the interview


Age Stipulations

  • Must be between the ages of 15 and 19
  • May be 14 if the 8th grade has been completed


  • Must have parental/guardianship consent

Education Level/Classes

  • Must maintain a 2.0 GPA in school


  • All clothing worn should be neat and clean, free of wrinkles, holes, and tears, and should not contain profanity, obscene imagery or otherwise convey an inappropriate message. Visible body piercings and jewelry that do not create a safety hazard may be permitted, subject to county management’s reasonable determination of propriety.


  • Pass all applicable screenings.
