MHS will only accept applications for those that match the needs of the open volunteer positions which are posted below in blue. Please review before you apply.

Volunteers must be over the age of 14. Youth volunteers between the ages of 14 and 17 can assist with an adult mentor (25 years or older). In order for the youth's application to be accepted, the supervising adult will also need to complete a volunteer application.

Euthanasia Policy
The Michigan Humane Society practices Humane Euthanasia for surrendered animals that cannot meet our adoption criteria. These reasons include, but are not limited to serious temperament or health issues. Also, at present, we will not put pit bulls up for adoption. I certify that all information I have provided, in order to apply for volunteer work with the Michigan Humane Society, is complete and accurate. I understand that any information provided by me that is found to be false, incomplete or misrepresented in any respect, will be sufficient cause to (i) cancel further consideration of this application, (ii) reification of an offer of volunteer service or (iii) immediately discharge me from Michigan Humane Society whenever it is discovered.

I expressly authorize, without reservation, Michigan Humane Society, its representatives, employees or agents to contact and obtain information from all references (personal and professional), employers, public agencies, licensing authorities and educational institutions and to otherwise verify the accuracy of all information provided by me in this application, or volunteer interview. I understand that this application remains current for only 30 days. At the conclusion of that time, if I have not heard from MHS and still wish to be considered for volunteer services, it will be necessary to reapply and fill out a new application. I also understand that if I am accepted as a volunteer, I may be required to provide proof of identity.
