Help topic: Setup a VicTouch computer

To setup the VicTouch component:

Step 1
The VicTouch module currently works only with Microsoft Internet Explorer, and Internet Explorer version 6 or later is required. Internet Explorer is available free from Microsoft. If your VicTouch computer does not currently have Internet Explorer installed, install Internet Explorer before continuing. This browser limitation applies only to the VicTouch module. You can use Volgistics and VicNet from any popular web browser.

Step 2
VicTouch has the best appearance when the screen resolution on the VicTouch computer is set to a value no smaller than 1024 by 768 pixels, and no larger than 1280 x 1024.

To check or set the screen resolution:

1. In Windows, click on the Start button, and select Settings and then Control Panel.

2. From the Control Panel, select Display to open the Display Properties screen.

3. Click on the Settings Tab.

4. Move the slider to screen resolution that is no smaller than 1024 by 768 pixels, and no larger than 1280 x 1024. The smaller the resolution the larger the buttons and text in VicTouch will appear.

5. Set the Color quality as high as your display adapter will support (at least 256 colors recommended).

6. Click Apply, and then click OK.

7. Depending on your system, you may need to restart your computer for the settings to take effect.

Step 3
If you will use a touch screen monitor at the VicTouch computer, install any touch screen drivers that accompanied your touch screen monitor, and perform any touch screen calibration recommended by the touch screen manufacturer before installing VicTouch. Refer to the documentation from your touch screen monitor manufacturer for instructions on installing touch screen drivers or calibration.

Step 4
Check your Internet connection. From the VicTouch computer, be sure you have a working Internet connection by visiting the Volgistics web site at www.Volgistics.com.

Step 5
Configure Microsoft Internet Explorer for Kiosk mode, and perform any additional security configuration of the VicTouch computer you prefer.

Step 6
Start Microsoft Internet Explorer in Kiosk mode. If you configured Kiosk mode as recommended, VicTouch will load automatically as soon as you as launch Internet Explorer. If you choose not to use Internet Explorer in Kiosk mode, visit www.volgistics.com/touch to load VicTouch.

Step 7
Follow the VicTouch Start-up instructions that appear on the screen to complete the setup process. Once you complete the Start-up instructions VicTouch is ready for volunteer interaction.

To stop VicTouch

1. Touch the “Sign-in or out” button.

2. Using the VicTouch keypad displayed on the screen, enter the VicTouch exit code, and then touch the Continue button. By default the VicTouch exit code is “#99”, however this may have been changed by your organization for security purposes (in this case, enter the exit code selected by your organization).
